Major European Award win for Hometech!

Hometech scooped its first major award at the prestigious CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) Awards in London.

Fighting off stiff competition from its European counterparts, Stirling-based Hometech was presented with the ‘Best Multi Dwelling' award for its innovative technology used in The Metro development in Glasgow.

Kirstin Anderson, Hometech's Sales and Marketing Manager commented,  "Our first CEDIA award is a huge boost in what is a tough and ever changing market place. The Metro was the first development in Scotland to provide this level of technology as standard in a new build development.

"Our clients, Quality Street, sought a cost effective approach to technology integration throughout its contemporary retro-chic development.  It proved to be a huge success as The Metro went on to be the fastest selling development in Glasgow."

The Hometech product was designed to grab the attention of, young professional urban dwellers, looking for technology functionality to enhance their lifestyle, improve work/life balance and to entertain friends.

Hometech's product solution for The Metro included:

  • A Zon multi room audio system (including iPod) and structured cabling in each of the 46 apartments giving homeowners the capability of broadband, telephone and television throughout as well as home cinema and multi room audio.
  • A Metro Podcast recorded by Hometech and loaded onto all iPods so customers had instant instructions for their system when they moved in.
  • A Linn home cinema system in The Penthouses with discreet in-ceiling speakers  giving the ability to watch movies in 5.1 surround sound.
  • Lutron lighting in the Studio apartments to suit the flexible use of space including fold-down beds, a dining/living room and breakfast bar/kitchen areas.
  • Total concealment of all wires and black boxes such as DVD players and Audio systems was standard throughout.

Anderson continued, "We set out to get buyers really excited about the technology at The Metro from the moment they walked through the door.  We got a great response from the new homeowners, particularly to the Hometech Podcast which welcomed them to their new home and reduced the number of customer care calls.

"This is a highly sophisticated target market, part of the mp3 generation, so they're used to accessing their full music collection instantly in the car or in the gym.  Now at The Metro they can access their favourite tunes throughout their home simply by dropping their iPod into the docking station."

Hometech is currently working on a number of other developments across the UK including the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station by Parkview International, the conversion of Howard Holdings ‘The Exchange' in Croydon and the Gladedale Group's ‘Quartermile' development in Edinburgh.
